Minor Tweaking…

Date & Time = June 16th, 2008 2:33am CMT
Everything in the repo, from GBA to Genesis, and from gpSPhone to the BIOS, should now be fully functional.

Everything works, so feel free to download away. We’re trying to get to at least 75,000 Unique user downloads by the end of the month. Right now We’re at 46,045 since June 4th. This request from us to you is so that we can prove that we can keep up with the competition (other rom repo sites). The more users, the more possibility that someone will eventually donate to our efforts……..By the way, we’ve only gotten about $15 in donations since this site started up. Someone PLEASE Donate…

……So anyways, tell your friends, family, teachers…Everyone with an iphone, about our site and repo. We want the world to know we exist, because we want to help the World be a funner* place.

*Yes i know its not gramatically correct.

Can’t find your roms?

Use the New Rom fixes in the repo instead of this fix!

Here’s a fix that, unfortunately, requires you to get your hands a bit dirty, but at least you can play your games now.

Summary ≈

The early repo would create a file to put roms in, instead of a folder or a directory, but roms were actually written into this file as text, instead of the roms being put in it (note that there aren’t any roms inside these files in the steps ahead). Since these files aren’t actually directories (containers for files, a.k.a. folders), applications, like gpSPhone and snes4iphone, are unable to read them. Since installer can’t distinguish between functional and corrupted rom folders, we will need to delete these files manually. Using the LS command below, the corrupt folders are the folders with NO contents.

Instructions

First, add http://hpcgi3.nifty.com/moyashi/ipodtouch/repository.cgi to your sources list. Then, install BSD Subsystem (if you don’t have it. Its under System), and mobileterminal (under System as well). Open Terminal from the home screen. Enter the password if it asks (password is alpine). Then enter the following text into terminal (except for the stuff in between “<” and “>” symbols):

  • cd /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/  <press enter> <for 1.1.2 and earlier, use root instead of mobile>
  • <Type in “ls” followed by the name of a folder (e.g. “ls GBA”)> <press enter> <!! Repeat this step for each folder !!>

For each folder that is corrupt, follow the step below. This will remove the corrupt folders.

  1. <Type in “rm” followed by the name of a folder to delete> <press enter>
  2. ls  <press enter> <the corrupt folder should be gone now>.

Now type in “reboot“.

Your device’s screen should go black and then it will turn on again. Once it’s done restarting, go to installer, uninstall all the roms for folders you just deleted, and reinstall them. Now go play those games, because they should be visible in your list of roms now!

Update!

Genesis has been added to the repository and the request form!

It’s been a long time but we finally have it here, Genesis has been added to the repository. It’s just going through some testing right now, should be live soon.

SNES has been fixed - for those who still aren’t able to get any games, go to iROM Utilities in installer (After refreshing your sources), and download the Snes rom prep. After that’s installed, proceed to download SNES ROMs and it should work fine.

Request form, ACTIVATE!!!!!!

The request form is up and running. You can get to it through the Available Roms page.

Oh yeah, and try not to overload the system. I haven’t debugged the form completely. At peak hours I might disable requests to keep the site from freezing up. As soon as we can afford unlimited bandwidth, we’ll eliminate the limitation.

On another note; new logo! yay. If you use Internet Explorer (Who does? shame on them)..the logo will look stuffed up. All other browsers should be fine.

Get firefox! Pledge to download Firefox 3 on Download Day to help set a new world record! Click here to pledge. (Basically, download firefox 3 within 24 hours of its release date to help set a new Guinness world record. Best browser ever?)

Edit: OK it’s stuffed up already, due to Wordpress’s editor. Will be fixed in the morning.
Fixed thanks to webadmin :D

iPhone/iPod Touch Friendly!

This Site is now iPhone/iPod Touch compatible, which means that it’s automatically optimized for an iDevice when you visit the site on the device. Check the site out on your iPod/iPhone and see for yourself.

New Announcement

We have a new page (link on the right, Available roms) which will display both available roms, and requested roms (requested roms will start being displayed as soon as we configure the roms request form). If any roms are missing (aka they arent on the list but are in repo), contact our Support staff with the subject: missing rom listing.

Twitter

You can add iROM to twitter! - I’ve implemented it into the side of the page, I’ll put it in the header on the right hand side or something later, too many things on the side now IMO.

Anyway, by following iROM on twitter you’ll get the latest updates instantly, you can even get the updates to your phone (after you set that up in twitter settings)

The little arrows you see are to scroll through the tweets, to see previous messages and whatnot. I tried adding a better twitter badge but for some reason the colours I chose didn’t apply, it stayed on the default and the tweets were from the guy who made the badge..not from my account. So I don’t know what’s up with that, I guess I’ll keep that little badge for now.

Note: You need flash installed. Get it here.

Not anymore!, thanks to WebAdmin for implementing it into the theme - it’s now iPod/iPhone friendly, thanks to Javascript support.

Great news!

We finally got SNES roms working on the repo. This is great news, because now we can add more roms as soon as we recieve a few more donations. The SNES roms are available under the iROM SNES category, if you Added the Repo to your list of sources.
We’ll be adding many SNES ROMs in the near future.

On that note, Genesis is also coming soon!
